Randolph is a big a relatively big town with a population of 25,734 according to the US Census of 2010. The town is located at the northern part of the Morris County in the suburbs of New York City. The town has a rich history with the first inhabitants believed to be the Lenni Lenape Native Americans.
The earliest settlers to the area were Quakers lead by Hartshorne Fitz-Randolph, who bought huge tract of land that is now Randolph Township. Randolph was the site of the first iron ore mine in the entire New Jersey. The iron mine was a major source of raw materials for the Continental Army and is recorded as a critical contributor to George Washington’s success during the Revolutionary War.
The town was incorporated in 1806 and grew to become a vacation haven from 20th Century to date. Randolph proximity to cities like New York City, Newark, Jersey City, and Jersey City has made it a top destination especially for short holidays and weekend getaways. Other smaller towns within a short distance of 16 miles include Dover, Madison, Milburn, and Lincoln Park.
